Chapter-Level Senior Staff

This page exists to outline the basic duties of senior staff members within each chapter of Fleet 31, listed by individual position.

 

Commanding Officer

Liaison to the general public as well as Fleet 31 Command. Ultimately responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the ship and picking up the slack, including choosing all other senior staff members. In the event that another chapter is forming in the same region, Fleet 31 Command may charge the CO with aiding the new chapter as an advisor.

 

First Officer

Responsible for seeing to the Commanding Officer’s success in ensuring the smooth running of the ship. Any task charged of the CO may be shared to the First Officer if the CO is unable to complete the task alone, though further delegation is permissible if specialties are required.

 

Chief Operations Officer

Responsible for creating an up-to-date mailing list of local members and sending out news and updates, including information on recent and upcoming events, on a regular basis. The Ops Officer may also be placed in charge of updating the Fleet 31 blog on behalf of the local CO.

 

Chief Science Officer

Responsible for seeking out charitable opportunities for the ship’s crew to participate in and organizing the ship’s response to those opportunities. Events with a larger geographic base should be passed upward through the chain of command to the fleet level.

 

Chief Tactical Officer

Responsible for identifying conventions and other events in the local area ideal for recruitment and public relations. Events with a larger geographic base should be passed upward through the chain of command to the fleet level.

 

Chief Engineer

Responsible for the ship’s physical projects, including the building of props, sets, etc., as well as organizing events toward completion of such projects.

 

Chief Security Officer

Responsible for teaching members of the crew basic safety, including weather and public security announcements, as well as (if applicable) personal defense.

 

Chief Medical Officer

Responsible for teaching members of the crew basic first aid, as well as preparing for minor medical emergencies that could arise at events.

 

Counselor

Responsible for acting as an open ear to the crew, as well as not telling the captain what you sense every thirty seconds.

 

Cadet Mentor

Responsible for acting as the advocate of local Cadets. This includes lending an ear, offering advice, organizing Cadet events where possible, and representing the best interests of the Cadets as a voice in the Senior Staff. This position is not limited to officers who do not hold another Senior Staff position, which is to say that any member of the crew may hold this position.
